The Trasition

A detailed Summary of The Trasition

Imagine just completing something that you have been waiting to finish for the last four years. It is finally over and this great weight has been lifted from your shoulders. However, before you can truly savor the moment, BOOM, it is dropped right back on you. What I am referring to is the great transition from high school to college. Making this move from high school to college is almost like starting over again. You go from "the top of the food chain" (high school senior) right back to the bottom (college freshman) in a two and a half month stint. As a high school senior you have less freedom, less work, and high respect. These three privileges are taken from you in one fail swoop once you reach college. In your first semester of college you are bombarded with so much time consuming work that it's just like being in the ninth grade all over again. These are some of the things that make college so different from high school.

The first topic that makes the transition from high school to college so difficult is freedom. In high school you had your freedom from time to time but for the most part if you were at school you had to go to class there was no cutting and no leaving early. Once you reach college it's total fre

Finally, the last aspect that makes college so much more difficult than high school is respect or lack there of. As a high school senior you get a lot of respect from all the underclassmen. Now in college you are the underclassmen. You used to look down on younger people and have them look up to you. But now you're the one looking up and being looked down on. Also instead of saying been their done that, you are saying I can't wait to get there. You are now the youngest person on campus and have to watch what you say and do. As an alternative you are asking all the questions like: Where is this? Who is that? When does this happen? etc. Back in high school you were asked all these questions. Now you are in a new environment and have to adapt to it. You really find yourself asking can I get a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

In conclusion, there are so many different transitions from high school to college. Each of them presents a new challenge in their own way. Freedom is just something that you have to keep under control yourself and make sure you are not getting into the habit of skipping one or two classes hear and there. As far as the workload you just have to stay on top of it and make sure you don
