The Trasition
Imagine just completing something that you have been waiting to finish for the last four years. It is finally over and this great weight has been lifted from your shoulders. However, before you can truly savor the moment, BOOM, it is dropped right back on you. What I am referring to is the great transition from high school to college. Making this move from high school to college is almost like starting over again. You go from “the top of the food chain” (high school senior) right back to the bottom (college freshman) in a two and a half month stint. As a high school senior you have less freedom, less work, and high respect. These three privileges are taken from you in one fail swoop once you reach college. In your first semester of college you are bombarded with so much time consuming work that it’s just like being in the ninth grade all over again. These are some of the things that make college so different from high school. The first topic that makes the transition from high school to college so difficult is freedom. In high school you had your freedom from time to time but for the most part if you were at school you had to go to class there was no cutting and no leaving early.
