Artificial intelligence
"A machine that can reason and think like a normal human being." This is the Webster's dictionary definition of Artificial Intelligence. This serves as a great definition what really is Artificial Intelligence? What are the moral, and scientific stand points on the issue? When and why did AI research start? Where will it take the human race? These are a few of the many questions that plague scientist and philosophers. Here are the answers. "What is Artificial Intelligence?" To ask this question one must first ask the eternal question, "What is intelligence?" To some philosopher and scientist intelligence is just mere cognitive reasoning, the ability to think twice before an action or answer to a problem. This is true, but does it go deeper than this; is it the ability to have feelings or love for another object, or the ability to curiously delve into the inner workings of complicated ideas such as space and human nature? Or is it simply the definition from above. These are some of the ideas that many believe make up the human races unique understanding of the world around us. Humans don't use much of their instanced any more; they aren't concerned with just living, eating, procreating, and dying
In all when intelligence is defined it is a very finite definition of and infinite idea. Humans do not know what intelligence is just yet, and they do not lack the ability to understand it. Humans still have to remember though that no mater how intelligent they are, or are not, they still have the ability to wonder what makes everything tick. It is because of this wonderful gift they are able to conjure up such beautiful dream yet such horrible nightmares, beautiful dreams of making a creation all our own, yet horrible nightmares of betrayal by that dream. Through it all though humans must remember, everything they know and understand is because of this computer made of flesh inside our skulls and it is only there that the human world exists everything else is just a dream. A research center that calls them self A-i has made a breakthrough in human interaction with a computer. The idea of an infant computer is relatively new, the original idea was to program a computer to be at the same level as intelligent adults, but this proved rather difficult to do. A-i has taken a different approach. By programming it to take in and learn from its experiences the computer starts out in an infant like stage taking in every thing and copying everything but I soon learns reasoning and its own ideas. After 18 months the computer can speak back to its "mother" forming sentences and reasoning with what it's told. For example when the mother asked the computer if it would like to go to the park the computer asked if it could take some apples and oranges. Obvious the mother agreed then the computer asked if they were taking the car, so as you can see it has started to learn its own cognitive speech and ideas. This is a huge step in moving toward the ultimate goal of creating a human like machine that can interact in public with out anyone having a second thought. If this were to happen just imagine the possibilities the computer in a persons house would recognize its too cold for comfort and turns the heat on, it could regulate calls coming in to the house when that person is having a bad day. The computer could understand everyday natural speech, no more programming, and it could fix itself. These are some of the thousands of possibilities that would become available in Artificially Intellige
