The media influences what people to think by using manipulative techniques. Manipulative techniques are used in newspaper articles such as "Bush: Give me free rein to KO Saddam." The news media has influenced the way people to think about terrorism and other aspects dealing with politics within the United States government. Three essays have talked about political information being influenced by the media. The authors of those three are George Orwell, Stuart Hirschberg, and Neil Postman including Steve Powers. George Orwell has written an essay titled "Politics and the English Language" based on political issues based on "euphemism"(Orwell 508). Stuart Hirschberg has written an essay titled "Analyzing the Rhetoric of Nixon's ‘Checkers Speech'" based on techniques used in journalism.
