For as long as there have been people roaming the earth there have been crisis situations, whether the crisis situations be an environmental crisis, such as an earthquake or severe drought, or a crisis brought from war between people. From this presence of disastrous circumstances there has always been an ever presence need to resolve the predicament and to help those affected.

Over the centuries and generations, there have been many different ideas to how catastrophe situations should be dealt with and who should help, and we have tried to perfect our dealings with crisis dilemmas and to even prevent crises yet the perfect approach eludes us even today. Many think that everyone should put their trust into the great power nations and their individual actions to come to the rescue and solve the calamity situation while others believe that in tragedy and warring situations it would be best if the international community would join together to form alliances or collective efforts to solve the problem. From these differing opinions arise the question, should crisis situations be resolved by the individual actions of great power nations? The model answer is no, but in rea

September 11, 2001 is a day many will never forget. In the morning of that day, the United States suffered its most catastrophic act of terrorism in the history of U.S.A when two hijacked airplanes slammed into the Twin Towers. Within the week, the States had declared a war on terrorism. This was one country against all terrorism. It was just a start. During the next year, the president George W. Bush campaigned to get the world community into the war. He realized that this was one war that a large-scale population effort would be needed, but he also was determined to go along with his plan, whether or not he had the world's people behind him. So far, some countries have pledged to fight the war against terrorism but in my opinion, that just is not enough. Terrorism is a conflict that will affect the whole world and if there was anytime for the world to mature out of its infantile stage and reach its attainable superior defense of true world collective efforts, it is now. Now would be the time for the world to learn from its mistakes and figure out how to perfect their collective efforts but if that is not possible than once again we will try and choose the next best option, whether it be the world's attempt at a collective stance or one country's actions alone.

During the beginning of the Vietnam War, Americans helped with French military funding but in 1957, the American president, Eisenhower, decided that if they let Vietnam become communist it would create a domino effect on Asia and all southeast Asia would turn communist. Thus, from 1959 until 1975 the Americans engaged in their most hot topic war. During the years that they were in the war, 55 000 Americans were killed, 303 000 were wounded and $150 billion was spent. This wouldn't be as bad if they had won the war and saved South Vietnam from a communist take-over but in the end, the Americans achieved virtually nothing in the war and it ended with the Americans withdrawing and the communists taking over all Vietnam. This example of a single power country trying to solve a crisis all by its self shows how you need to use the right method for the right crisis.
