Leader paper
Due to the times and struggles of our nation, I visualize Mayor Gulliani as an American leader. He has handled our country in this time of turmoil as good, if not better, than any other leader. John C. Maxwell describes what it is to be a leader in his book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. Out of the 21 laws, the four that pertain to Mayor Rudolph Gulliani during this time of crisis are The Law of Process, The Law of Navigation, The Law of Victory, and The Law of Priorities.Let us recall Rudolph Gulliani 15 years ago. Chances are that the majority of Americans did not look at Rudolph Gulliani from the standpoint of a follower, but as an equal. According to Maxwell, "...it's true that some people are born with greater natural gifts than others, the ability to lead is really a collection of skills, nearly all of which can be learned and improved. But that process doesn't happen overnight." What this is saying is that leaders are bread. Mayor Gulliani is a New York Native, born in Brooklyn. After college he went on to law school to pursue a law degree, and following law school he became a United States Attorney in the state of New York. My father had the opportunity to work with Rudolph Gulliani as a Dru
The Law of Navigation states, "Anyone can steer the ship, But it takes a leader to chart the course." If someone is leading, that means that there is opposition, and with any opposition, there are people that oppose. Mayor Gulliani is criticized often with people saying that he was just doing his job, and any other mayor would have done the same thing. State Senator Grace Schwab is quoted on the internet saying, "Most of us have praised President Bush and Mayor Gulliani for providing some of the most vivid and inspiring demonstrations of leadership our country has seen in years. Hollandale Mayor Ted Radeke has never received that level of accolades, which is just as well since he'd never stop working long enough to accept such awards." I do not know Mayor Hollondale, but Mayor Gulliani has pulled us Americans and the City of New York together, and that is why he is praised as a leader. Steering the ship, or pulling the people together is easy, but pulling everyone together if you are viewed as a threat is hard. In other words, Gulliani has been charting the course in the State of New York since he was born. He has the people on his side. Maxwell states that a true leader sees the whole trip in their minds before they even leave the dock. The September 11th attacks was just adversity, the course was already charted. The attacks on our nation were acts of terrorism. These terrorist tried to cause as much harm and heartache to as many Americans as possible. The Law of Victory states that leaders find a way for the team to win. After the attacks, the battle was not over, it had just begun. The terrorist got a cheap, blind siding shot to our nation which knocked us back, but our nation lead by great leaders got us back up and fighting harder than ever to stop terrorism. Maxwell quotes, "When the pressure is on, great leaders are at t
