The Lost Battle

During all his books Ernest Hemingway showed protagonist that always were warriors, in spite that the majority of them were soldiers their fight was not in the war field, but their own life . The intention of these characters was to show, according Ernest Hemingway, what life meant to him.

As I mentioned before despite of the fact that Hemnigway’s protagonists were in a war, his actual field of battle was themselves and with the help of the war their inner existence conflicts became stronger. For example, Nick Adams(“The Battle”), who went to First World War, after he got hurt from a battle he declared in peace with the enemy. Despite of the fact that the War had not finish yet, the fight to get over of this traumatic experience had just begun. The facts that caussed him to take the decission of declaring in peace with his enemy were: a traumatic childhood, that it is his symbolic wound and the physical damage during the war
