A detailed Summary of Freedom


According to the American Heritage Dictionary, freedom is defined as the condition of being free of restraints; liberty of the person from slavery, detention, or oppression; political independence; exemption from the arbitrary exercise of authority in the performance of a specific action; exemption from an unpleasant or onerous condition; the capacity to exercise choice; free will; ease or facility of movement; frankness or boldness; lack of modesty or reserve; the right to unrestricted use; the right of enjoying all of the privileges of membership or citizenship; a right or the power to engage in certain actions without control or interference. According most seniors in High School attending college in the fall, freedom is defined as being away from your parents and living on your own.

Personally, I could not wait for the day to come when I would I go off to college, making my own decisions, being responsible for myself, and being on my own. Wait, let me think about this again; decisions on my own... being responsible for myself... being on my own? Actually, it sounds pretty scary. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't wait to be parent free, but I hadn't done that in seventeen years (all my life)! I relied on my parents for just ab


I always keep in mind, however, everything has there ups and downs. College is a great time, and a lot of fun, but it's also hard work. The hardest thing about it, is managing your time. I am used to a hard schedule, and being able to get everything done in a certain amount of time. College is different because you have so much time you don't know what to do with it. I'm still trying to adjust to that , but my progress is improving with every week that goes by. I guess it has to, since the course load is very different, from that in high school. It seems like I either have a quiz, test, or paper due every week. College really goes to the next level of education.

One week had gone by, and I finally found the time to call my parents. I couldn't remember what I had feared at first because it was great being away from home. I didn't realize that I didn't need my parents' constant reminders and support. I had finally grew up, able to face the world and all of its aspects, all by myself.

It hadn't dawned on me that I wasn't the only one who had those initial thoughts and fears because everyone around me had those feeling's too. This made the atmosphere easier because everyone was open, friendly, and responsive to one another. Meeting new people made me become acquainted to their way of life from their home.
