Suicide

A detailed Summary of Suicide

A quiet young woman found dead, splattered across the sidewalk outside of her apartment. Her cause of death: suicide. No one could imagine why she would commit suicide. The police interviewed neighbors and witnesses. Everyone said that she seemed normal, but did anyone really know her? Every year hundreds of people choose to take their own lives. What do these acts accomplish except to start a chair of events and feelings that will devastate all who loved the person that committed suicide?

First, the family, the friends, and the loved ones will experience some of the most destructive feelings a human can endure: shock, sadness, anger, confusion, blame, then guilt. This family must now begin a process of mourning that will never end. After the family accepts that this is not a dream, and that its little girl has died, the tears begin to pour. After they have cried till there are no tears left to shed, rage will fill their souls. They will curse the poor girl for abandoning them. Then there will be silence, very briefly. And then the first question will be asked, "Why?" They will ask what someone could have done to mistreat her in such a way that she felt she should take her life. They will begin to point f

ingers at one another, saying, "It's your fault! You never told her that you were proud of her!" Next, they will change the way their fingers point, and they will now point to themselves. Guilt: this feeling could, and often does, haunt each individual of the family for the rest of their lives.

What has happened to the witnesses of this death along with the neighbors and the people who walk that sidewalk every day? To see someone kill herself must be a vision that would haunt a man for the rest of his life. Now, the pedestrians will have to walk over the spot where a cold corpse with blood oozing from its unnatural form was once splayed. Most people would not be able to cope with this. Perhaps now they would find a different route to your daily destination. The poor neighbors having to walk in front of the door where that quiet woman threw herself from her window. How can a person cope with that?

The background of the woman is almost a perfect stereotype for suicide candidates. She was the youngest of two girls. Quite often her dad wasn't home and he certainly didn't have a strong relationship with his children. The older sister was the perfect one: straight A's, president of the class, head cheerleader. The younger daughter was not all that her sister seemed to be so effortlessly, but she still felt that she had to be perfect just as her older sister was. She didn't have as many friends and never seemed to fit in anywher
