Daycare: Reap the Benefits

A difficult decision many mothers face after having a child is whether to return to work or to stay at home with their child. Although many parents want to provide care for their child at home, daycare may be their only option; which in reality can be more beneficial. There are many factors that go into deciding whether to return to work or stay at home for a parent.

The choice that is made is not an easy one. For some, financial situations may determine whether the mother works. Raising a child is very expensive and some families may not be able to afford it if the mother stays at home. For others, there are many factors that contribute to their decision. No matter what the outcome, families are always overwhelmed with guilt because of the tough decision. Parents want what is best for themselves and their child.

Children have many needs, one being the need for a close relationship with their parents. If the relationship is not established early, problems are likely to transpire later in life. A child will not feel close to their parents as they grow up. If the relationship is not initialized early, there is a possibility that a close relationship will never be obtained. If a child is raised at home it may be more

In reality, most parents can not afford to stay at home. Working and sending a child to daycare provides benefits not only for the children, but also for the parents. Parents can benefit in a financial aspect. By staying at home you do not have to pay for daycare, but receiving that extra income for some is vital. Raising a child is not cheap, and many families cannot afford it if the mother stayed at home. Although you are not the one contributing to your child's development during the day, you cab be assured that your daycare is providing proper care.

But what many of us do not see is that attending daycare could strengthen a child's immune system in the long run. It would make their immune system healthier and stronger because of what it had to ward off. The more times the immune system fights an illness off, the stronger it gets and the child is less susceptible to get the illness in the future. It would mean fewer colds and illnesses for the children who went to daycare and a weaker immune system for those who were raised at home.

A common complaint of stay-at-home mothers is that if they sent their child to daycare and worked, their child would be sick more often because of the other children they were exposed to at daycare. The mother would then have to take off work to be at home with her sick child. There is a possibility their child will be more likely to catch things like the common cold, chicken pox, or even pink eye.

Most mothers would agree that staying at home with your children offers many rewards. A stay-at-home mother would say that no amount of money is worth the time that one spends away from their children when they choose to work. A mother can observe and contribute to her child's development if she stays at home. A mother can teach a child morals and values better than anybody. My mother stayed at home with my two oldest siblings and she felt it was more rewarding than earning a paycheck. She always encourages people to stay at home with their children if they can afford it.

Sending children to daycare and working is not a bad thing. Not every mother can afford to stay at home with their child. It is sometimes apparent if a child attends daycare by the way they act around unfamiliar people. They generally are not as shy. If a stay at
