Victor Frankenstein's personality as a whole changes drastically over the course of the novel; from a guiltless university student enthralled by the endless possibilities of modern science into a disillusioned, guilt-ridden man with an unwavering lust to destroy his creation, for he believes that his creation, 'destroyed' him. As the book concludes, Victor is virtually hauled to the ground by his once vibrant, now remorse stricken, shameful, and guilty sole. Victor refuses to admit to anyone the terror of what he has created, even as he sees the malevolent ramifications of his creation tread through lives.
