A philosopher once said, “Man prefers to believe what he prefers to be true.” Bacon is saying that one’s mind tends to cling on to what it wants to listen to, while shunning away other distasteful thoughts opinions and various beliefs. Therefore, a knower’s personal point of view should always be considered an obstacle to be overcome. No one can truly define the word knowledge. However, the theory of knowledge and the studies made around it is called epistemology. Epistemology delves deep into the significance of knowledge and what it means to know. Even though one cannot truly delineate what knowledge is, there are many fields of knowledge that people study. A personal point of view is the knower’s outlook or standpoint. A point of view is created from a vast collection of lessons, values and morals learned over the years of an individual’s life span, and life experiences that have a person thinking a certain way and reacting with different emotions, thoughts and notions in certain situations and circumstances.
