DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is a very important part of our lives today. It is found in the nucleus of cells on the chromosomes. It is found in many cell organelles, such as plasmids in bacteria, chloroplasts in plants, and mitochondria in both plants and animals. DNA helps us to perform many actions in solving crimes, doing paternity tests, and also helps us to do scientific studies that were not possible until the middle 1900's. DNA has been one of the most popular subjects of study ever since it was discovered.
Scientists James Watson and Francis Crick first discovered DNA in 1953. On April 2, they published a journal article that was only one page in length, but has changed the life of everyone forever. Watson and Crick claimed that DNA is made of two chains of nucleotides joined together by the nitrogen bases. The bases hold the two nucleotides together because they are complementary of each othe
As you can see, DNA technology is one of the most important things studied today. It can be used to do good things and bad things also. I just hope that our scientists have enough common sense not to get tangled up in the bad things such as cloning and other applications that may be capable of doing in future times.
There are many arguments on how far science should be allowed to take DNA technology. Some say we should try to clone a human being, and some say it is not right to do it because it is playing God. That is really the way I feel about it. I believe that humans have souls. If we cloned someone, would his or her clone have a soul? That is where you get into a wide variety of opinions. To me, it just seems better to be safe than sorry. If it were meant for each of us to have a clone, they would be born with one.
DNA has two specific functions. It provides for protein synthesis and for th
