Enders game
Is science fiction in some cases creativity and imagination or is it a rude awakening? Ender’s Game, Unaccompanied Sonata and Harrison Bergeron share the common themes of isolation and control. Ender’s game is about a boy who was chose to save the world and had to be isolated in his training to do so. Unaccompanied Sonata tells of a controlled society where people are not free to do what they want to do. Harrison Bergeron is a piece that illustrates both mental and physical control. It is not a coincidence that these authors chose these same themes while writing their pieces of science fiction. They all had the same idea in mind, comparing the American society to these seemingly impossible societies. When looking at the American society, the majority of people see great schools, career opportunities and most importantly, a land of freedom. These authors see a nation of controlled and isolated minds. They see the school systems, government, laws and guidelines that we live by a way of brainwashing American citizens.
