Tyrone Willingham
Tyrone Willingham, who last year accepted the job of head football coach at Notre Dame University, broke a sort of “color barrier” at the school. He became the first African-American to coach the Irish in any sport. Tyrone Willingham has been in the coaching business for 28 years. He has spent time as an assistant coach for Michigan State and was a running backs coach for the NFL Minnisota Vikings. He started out as the assistant coach at Stanford before he took the head coaching job there. At Stanford he spent 7 years building up the Cardinal team. He took Stanford to the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1972 and also his teams first Conference Championship in ten years. He was very successful in this career at Stanford University.
