1.Compare and contrast Hamlet's madness and Ophelia's madness. What do the similarities and differences tell you about the characters and /or their roles in the play? Hamlet is a prince of the Denmark . He came back from England to attain the funeral for his father, the former king of Denmark. He also has a deep pain in his heart that his uncle has married to his mother. He act as a madman when he talks with his father's ghost and finds out the reason of his death. Ophelia's is the daughter of Polonius, councillor to the king. Ophelia is mad over the death of his father and lost of her love (Hamlet). Both Hamlet and Ophelia is in love with each other . But, Hamlet does not want to show it to the people and want to keep it his heart. Hamlet is acting as a madman to prove the death of his father and take a revenge whereas Ophelia goes mad when she finds about the death of his father by Hamlet and knows that Hamlet has left
Hamlet is a drama about the love , tragedy, happiness , revenge and sexuality. Hamlet act as a madman to take the revenge of his father . He must do it to give peace for his father's soul. Claudius and Gertrude on the other hand, is celebrating their marriage . Hamlet is in love with Ophelia. Ophelia dreams too about Hamlet , her first love but, is forbidden to see him and talk with him. Hamlet is overwhelm and depressed that he have not done anything to take the revenge of his father . Horatio is the only one whom Hamlet can trust and he is the only one knows about truth behind Hamlet's madness.
