St. Johns Cathdedral
The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is the Episcopalian answer to St. Patrick's Cathedral. The two smaller entryways are located on the north and south ends of the west facade. The north entryway has four sculptures on either side of the doors and a trumeau of St.
John the Divine. As well, the middle and south entryways each have a trumeau of St. John the Divine. The ornate peripheral sculptures are not yet started on the south entryway. On the south entryway's tympanum there is depicted Mary holding baby Jesus, the central tympanum an adult Jesus, and the north entryway's tympanum has depicted a crucified Jesus. sculptures on the north side are from the Old Testament and the on the south from the New Testament. The apostles represent the future and the past. Above the apostles are smaller, lightly colored sculptures also from the Old and New Testament. The coloring of the most external sculptures has apparently faded from weathering. The middle entryway's trumeau is a large sculpture of St. John the Divine holding his characteristi
