Interest groups dealing with Capital Punishment

Interest groups lobbying hard in Congress play an important role in determining how our society views the term 'capital punishment.' Most people come to know the term capital punishment as the death penalty. Here is a little background information on what the underlying principle is behind this type of execution for criminals. It first got established in 18th century BC down in Babylonia. This tribe had punished those by death from about 25 different crimes. The death sentences were enforced upon by drowning, crucifixion, stoning or by burning the offender alive. By the turn of the 16th century, some of the more common methods of execution ranged from boiling, stake burning, hanging and beheading. There is one group that is pro-death penalty in all these human rights era. Justice For All is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization founded in 1993. It acts as an advocate for change in the current justice system to help protect lives and property of law-abiding citizens. They exert the social and legislative influence necessary to effect positive change in the criminal justice system. One of their mottos is: 'If a criminal can kill, they can be killed also'. This group lobbies hard in Congress to push forth legislation which eliminates hard-nosed criminals from our society. A quote from a person who believe in capital punishment from John McAdams, "If we execute murderers and there is in fact no deterrent effect, we have killed a bunch a murderers. If we fail to execute murderers, and doing so would in fact have deterred other murderers, we have allowed the killing of a bunch of innocent victims. I would rather risk the former. This, to me is not a tough call." JFA uses this underlying principle to head their main cause for a better criminal justice system. (Formerly www.justiceforall.com)
