Communication and the way we (society) communicate has changed throughout our history. Newspapers, magizines, T.V., radio, and most recently the internet all are very popular means of communication. Film is also used to convey messages and teach lessons to a generation that would rather watch a movie than read a book. Violence is one theme many artists/writers/directors use to get their point across, and/or teach us a history lesson so that this generation can learn from past mistakes.
A great example of this is the film Saving Private Ryan .This movie gives a very accurate dipiciton of WWII and the violence it brougt to so many. Violence thorugh film can also bring about a greater appreciation of what other cultures have endured. For example there are still people today that believe that the Holocaust never occured. In the movies Life Is Beautiful and Schindler's List they go into detail of the persecution of an entire race. The harsh realities of concentration camps, the inhuman treatment of children are just some of the violent aspects of these movies that is needed to solidify the point the director is trying to make. You find yourself forming a kinship with characters and routing for them to make it, only to see the violent practices of war lead to a grousome end.
The feeling of sorrow and sadness for these people is greatly inhanced through the accurate dipection of violence in these films.
