Having soft, smooth skin is the goal of every woman. With all of the products that are available today who knows which is really the best? Though no one will be able to point a finger at just one product, magazine advertisers are doing their best to stand out from the competition. Advertisements use everything from rough skinned animals to relaxing showers while some ads still use the plain approach of sexy looking skin. No matter which product is used, they all claim to make your skin look and feel better. Since dry, scaly skin seems to be the major concern among woman today, what better way to represent this problem than with a scaly reptile? In an ad from the magazine Ladies Home Journal of October 2002, Lubriderm moisturizing lotion does just this. In the background of the ad a larger than life sized alligator is towering over a woman sitting carelessly in her designer chair. Her long legs hang over the side of the chair while she stares up at the alligator with a worry-free expression. White areas of the ad surround them both and a shadow is cast from the alligator.
