A detailed Summary of Comparison Of Gilgamesh and Genesis
It is difficult to compare "Gilgamesh" with any creation myth, but the one that comes closest to it would be "Genesis." It is almost seems as if the stories were cut away from each other. Both have very many similarities.
The most blatant similarity is the major flood in both stories. Each flood is global and causes the whole world to be drowned. Yet, there are differences to the floods in the stories. In "Genesis" the flood was caused by Man's wickedness. In "Gilgamesh" the flood was caused by Man's sins. "Gilgamesh's" flood was fairly short when compared to "Genesis's" being that one was only six days and nights and the other being forty.
