Injury
A detailed Summary of Injury
To many kids who play sports, not being able to play because of an injury, can seem like an eternity to them. I was one of those kids. When the doctor told me that I was going to be out for 6-8 weeks because I broke my ankle, I became very upset. Playing sports has meant so much to me that I never thought about what I would do if I got injured. I always dreamt of making that winning touchdown, or sacking the quarterback to end the game. All I wanted to be was the best player in the game. I worked really hard to reach this goal, so I could not imagine what it was going to feel like when I had to sit on the sidelines and watch my team play without me.
For the next 6-8 weeks I had to figure out what to do other than play football. It didn't matter to me what the doctor said, I wanted to play. My heart, my body, everything was in football, maybe even more than a lot of other players. It also didn't matter to me that the doctor had a degree and knew what was best for me, but I was going to be back before 6-8 weeks and I was determined to do so. I went to every single practice, to show my dedication and to suppo

My mother had told me that 6-8 weeks would go by fast, if I kept myself busy. So I went to the weight room, I helped my coaches with the practice plan, and I helped my teammates as much as I could. After about a month the coaches and players started to call me coach. This really made me happy because it made me feel like I was actually important , and I wasn't forgotten by my teammates, even though I wasn't out on the field busting my ass with them.
Everywhere I went all I talked about was coming back and playing football. I even tried to take the cast off my leg to try to come back sooner. Obviously this wasn't going to help heal my ankle, but I was completely desperate. Not being able to play really hurt me, football is a big part of my life and I needed to play.
rt my boys. I went to the football games as much as I could, and I even got to be on the sideline and act as an assistant coach. This to me was very important, I couldn't play, so I felt like part of the team by helping them in games. I used what I had learned in practice and in games to help coach my teammates and gave my opinions.
