To many kids who play sports, not being able to play because of an injury, can seem like an eternity to them. I was one of those kids. When the doctor told me that I was going to be out for 6-8 weeks because I broke my ankle, I became very upset. Playing sports has meant so much to me that I never thought about what I would do if I got injured. I always dreamt of making that winning touchdown, or sacking the quarterback to end the game. All I wanted to be was the best player in the game. I worked really hard to reach this goal, so I could not imagine what it was going to feel like when I had to sit on the sidelines and watch my team play without me. For the next 6-8 weeks I had to figure out what to do other than play football. It didn’t matter to me what the doctor said, I wanted to play. My heart, my body, everything was in football, maybe even more than a lot of other players. It also didn’t matter to me that the doctor had a degree and knew what was best for me, but I was going to be back before 6-8 weeks and I was determined to do so.
