Is something holy because the gods love it, or do the gods love it because it is holy? The first thing to do is explain the question. Then, we will look into the options involved with this question. Next, we must explain the implications of these options.
What is this question asking? The first half of the question is saying that something is loved by the gods and the gods loving it makes it holy. So, godly love of something makes that something holy. The second half of the question is saying that something is holy and the gods love that something because it is holy. So, something that is already holy make gods love that something. Let us look more thoroughly into each of the two options involved with this question.
We will examine the first option, something is holy because the gods love it, and explain the implications involved. So, if this option implies that godly love causes holiness then what happens? We can assume that the gods love things that bring pleasure to them. Godly lov

Both of the options this question presents offer very interesting points of view. One side believes godly love cause holiness while the other feels holiness causes godly love. The fact remains that whether either option is true, people will always try to make the gods happy by following what they believe the gods think is true.

So, essentially mankind would try to mimic what the gods love in order to stay in good faith with them. This could possibly start a war between the gods who would disagree about the issue.
