All [Woman and] Men Are Created Equal
It is disturbing to see that in society today I see as many unjust women as men. Most women have declared that women and men should have equal rights and I, as a woman, have to agree. However, many women today are abusing their rights for their benefit. What happened to equal rights? We may have equality in rights but we are not created equal, yet in some situations, e.g., in the workplace, many women lash out their anger and blame men. We are put on earth to do different things. We are built differently and we think differently. Naturally, women and men will have disagreements now and then. However, women must recognize that misusing their rights to take revenge for what men did in the past will not solve anything. Many women still believe that most men today view women as inferior, but when the fight for equality becomes distorted, women can be as sexist, prejudice and biased as men. Many men have subtly degraded women for many years. It's either that many women do not notice it or choose to look the other way. In the essay, "Invisible Women", Yun Yung Choi explains how one man, Confucius, changed the lives of women for the worse in Korea. Choi states, "Throughout the first half of Koryo period, which lasted from 9
Many women accuse men of impeding equality, however, women seem to do the same and get away with it just because they are "women." In some cases when men do not allow women to get away with their injustices, women take them to court and almost always win. For example, if a man were to accuse a woman for sexual harassment, he would be at a great disadvantage from the start due to society's prejudices. Unfortunately, despite the gravity of the accusation, people will probably find it more amusing than take it seriously. To put it simply, men are treated unfairly in the workplace and in society as a whole. They are in much greater danger of being accused and charged with sexual harassment than their counterpart. Many women, in fact, are aware of this and may take advantage of these inequalities for their own benefit. When people think about sexual harassment, they only think of women as the victims. In the article by Shawn Larsen, "Sexual Harassment: It's Always The Guy's Fault," Larsen defends the maligned reputation of men. He states, "Sexual harassment does happen to working men (15 to 30%) and the law guidelines are often written and languaged as if sexual harassment is only a male to women thing." Women are not the only victims. A lawyer who defends companies in sexual harassment cases say that as women assume more positions of power in corporate America, sexual harassment towards men will increase. Larsen's former college conducted a survey on sexual harassment and related issues. The survey reported one-third of the students that was sexually harassed were men and Larsen states, " What makes the number more surprising, is that women made up only one-fifth of the student population. That is, one-fifth of the students were causing one-third of the problem. Yet the men were ignored; a campaign was initiated on how to stop the harassment of women." Crimes committed against men by women are almost always ignored. The society must start to acknowledge that women are not fragile creatures anymore and they can do as much harm, if not more, as men. In the argument posted online by an anonymous female student who attends the University of Southern California (USC) titled, "Feminazis Take Over University." In this argument she states an incident when a women claimed that she was sexually harassed when a male student called her "beautiful." She also states, "Men are penalized for complimenting women in this politically correct environment" and "men cannot look or speak to women without consulting their NEWSPEAK Dictionary." Women must feel ashamed of what we are doing to make many men so afraid of what we might do to them if they made a single harmless gesture. The last sentence this female student of US
