No matter what time of day emergency service personnel are always on duty. Whether they are paid or volunteer they always have the responsibility of providing some sort of services to their community. It may be simple things like retrieving a ball from out of the street for a child, to providing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation for someone in cardiac arrest. The TV shows Third Watch and ER are great examples of how firemen, police officers, and EMT's perform their duties and work together to provide services to the community. They show no matter what's going on, they always provide reliable services in a diligent and timely manner to the community and also perform there duties to the maximum extent of there training and capabilities. They show the different roles that are played and make the characters seem realistic. Even though the show seems so real, there is a big difference in the way things are in real life. ts off with a structure fire call where people trapped inside the building. Firefighter Jimmy Doherty and his partner run in the building and get on the roof. Once there, they tie off a rope and Jimmy rappels down to the window where the paramedics are trapped in a room full of smoke with a patient. Jimmy climbs in the room and makes a harness for the patient to be lowered out of the building. He then makes a harness for the paramedics to be lowered out and then he rappels down the rest of the way to assist in loading the patient on the ambulance to be transported to the hospital. Once the patient is loaded the paramedics transport him to the nearest medical facility. Once the firefighters are back at the building they are cleaning up the engine and trying to get cleared up for another call if needed. A few minutes later another call comes in and they respond to a vehicle fire. Upon arrival on scene a man was standing in front of the two vehicles that are burning and Jimmy ask the man to move so they can put out the fire; the man starts yelling at the fireman and says he is a firefighter. When Jimmy asked the man to move for the second time the man pulled out a gun and started firing off rounds at the firemen. Jimmy took a shot in the chest and was lying on the ground along with a few other firefighters. The ambulances arrive and paramedics start to triage and assess the patients. The paramedic starts doing her assessment on Jimmy and treats his gunshot wound. She finishes her rapid assessment and packages
