LIfe is Full of Surprises

A detailed Summary of LIfe is Full of Surprises

I stepped out of my warm car and into the cold air. "It is going to be another long day at work", I mumbled to myself as I pulled my jacket closer to my body. The brown dry leaves whispered beneath my shoes as I walked towards the front doors. I glanced casually up at the sign above the glass "Midwest Gymnastics and Cheerleading" it read. Reaching out with a bare hand I grabbed the metal handle and pulled it open. A gush of hot air instantly sent chills down my spine.

The lobby before me was filled with hyper active kids screaming and yelling at each other. Mothers were yapping at one another about what they bought at the mall and trying to control their youngsters. I felt a headache coming on as I saw a little boy pulling diligently on his sister's hair.

I headed into the staff room and closed the door tightly. I quickly got my papers together and started to look through them. "Ouch" I whined as blood surfaced my finger from a paper cut, "that hurt". I put the injured finger in my mouth and the taste of warm salty blood filled my taste buds. "Great, it is already time for class to start" I said as I gathered up my things and opened the door.

The boy stopped giggling and his face turned to stone and his eyes began to fill up with tears. "I'm sorry", he replied as tears fell down his face like a waterfall. I told them both it was okay and I walked through the throng of people towards the door to the main gym.

"Julie's class come on out", I yelled into the lobby. Just then two girls came running towards me. Kate was eight years old, with bright blonde hair and a big cheesy smile. Brook is a quite little six year old who keeps mainly to herself. She has long brown hair that is always tied back with a hair tie. They both are excellent students and I enjoy teaching them.

"Come get in line behind me" I said as I searched the immensely large gym for an open station. The floor that was once filled with flying arms and legs of kids attempting cartwheels was now empty. The floor now looked like an abandoned playground with mats and equipment scattered everywhere. I heard the faint sound of the Dixie Chicks playing in the background as we straightened up the mess.

"Okay guys listen up, over here with me you will be working on handstands. I also want someone to be working on cartwheels by themselves over here". I pointed to a spot about five feet from w
