To Kill a Mockingbird

To Kill A Mockingbird takes place in Maycomb Alabama. The characters

in this book are; Jean Louise Finch also known as Scout who is the narrator of the book

she is between the ages of six and eight in the book. She is a tomboy and loves to play

with her brother Jeremy Finch who is also known as Jem. Jem is between the ages of ten

and thirteen during the book. Another character is Dill he is a boy who comes to

Maycomb county every summer to visit his Aunt, Miss Rachel but always ends up staying

Atticus Finch is the father of Jem and Scout. He is a lawyer who defends

a Negro throughout most of the book. He is a man who is very optimistic and tries to

deal with everyone with equal fairness. Atticus's wife died when Scout was still a baby.

Calpurnia is the Finch's cook and housekeeper. Jem and Scout treat her as if she was

their mother. Atticus's sister Alexandria comes into play about the middle of the book to

help Atticus raise the kids beacuse she doesn't think he is raising them properly. She is

strict and believes that Scout needs to start acting like a lady and not so much like a

tomboy. Mr. Heck Tate is the county's trustworthy sheriff who is always been good to
