Reality Television
CRASH!! There has just been an accident. Suddenly there are sounds of sirens from ambulances and police cars rushing to the scene. Many bystanders’ curiosity’s skyrocket, because they want to know what has happened. People up ahead on the road are slowing down and getting out of their cars in hopes of glimpsing a mangled car or seeing human wreckage. This makes many spectators feel superior to the people involved in the accident or victimized by it. People in society want to know anything and everything about the people around them, whether it is public or private information. They are so involved with other’s lives that private moments are being publicized, especially on television. American culture’s obsession with reality-based television reveals how voyeurism, exploitation, and fantasy are sought through other people’s experiences. Reality shows are broadcasted all over the television. Two of the most well known reality shows were produced on MTV, and those were Road Rules and Real World. These shows basically have the same plot, but Real World remains in the same house while Road Rules travels the World. They have three guys and three girls living together to see how they get along and work toget
