2001: A Space Odyssey is about a man fighting against a deadly computer on his way to the next step in the human race. This story takes place from 2001 to 2003 and on the Earth, the Moon, and space. The main character is David Bowman, an astronaut trained in many different fields of space. The antagonist is the HAL 9000, an artificially intelligent computer. Other important characters are Frank Poole, Bowman's companion on the Discovery, and Dr. Heywoo
