Immigration
Beware! America is being invaded by aliens! Not the little, green, Martian type you see in science fiction movies, but the real thing. I am talking about the illegal type who come in every day and every night, by land and by sea. Estimates have shown that as many as 500,000 illegal aliens make it across the border every year. Illegal immigration causes many problems in the United States, including economic problems, crime, education disputes, and overcrowding. Also too many illegal immigrants will cause economic problems such as taking away jobs from American born citizens. With all these facts in mind I think that we should close the border and no longer let immigrants come to the United States. If we close the border then the problems that immigration bring will be eliminated. Other people may argue that the borders should remain open for illegal immigrants to enter and exit the United States as they please. If the borders are to remain open then this will cause a major problem for the American born citizens that already live in the United States. If the border is open for illegal immigrants to enter then the United States will become so overcrowded that we couldn't have as much space as we have because there will
If you look back into the laws regarding immigration the last law to be put into effect was the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986. This law made it hard for employer's to hire illegal immigrants and punishing employer's with fines up to $10,000 and prison time, as well as other minor details. The IRCA was very effective when it was first passed back in 1986. The only reason it isn't as effective as it used to be is because it is so outdated that people forget about it and don't pay attention to it. Even the government officials have forgotten about the bill because they don't enforce it anymore. When the IRCA first became a federal law, the number of people caught at the U.S.- Mexican border, where most of the illegal immigration took place dropped about 30 percent, which saved our country enormous amounts of money. If it was actually enforced now, the rates could significantly drop again. To add to that, many politicians have promised to introduce laws restricting immigration in their campaigns but have never done anything about it. One can now see that illegal immigration is a great obstacle afflicting the United States today. If the politicians would actually do something to control or close the boarders to illegal immigration then this great country wouldn't have to put up with all these problems that illegal immigration causes. Former United States Attorney General William p. Barr has stated, " As Americans we must remember that immigration helped make our country great, But as we welcome people in the front door we see people crashing through the back door and the back window, violating our laws and ignoring our process." As Mr. Barr has stated we welcome immigrants into our country because they helped make it great, but we cant have all of the immigrants just coming over when ever they want to they have to be sort of invited into the United States. If the illegal immigrants were stopped it would result in less problems for our great country. It would make the overpopulation in schools be reduced
