A detailed Summary of Narrative

I woke up scared, not knowing where I was. Tubes, wires, and needles littered my body. Pulling and scratching at the foreign objects, I tried to free myself from the physical bondage. Immediately a voice called to me. It sounded as though it was coming from across a dream, but as she spoke again and again I realized that I was in neither bondage nor a dream. I was in Balboa Navel Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit. The nurse asked if I was ok but all I could say was "Get this damn thing off of my face". She responded instantly by removing the oxygen mask. While placing a small tube in my nose, she asked if I had any pain, and of course I was in agonizing pain. It was the type of pain you would not wish on your worse enemy. She said for me to rate it on a scale of one to ten. All I could think was, "One to ten?!" After a short wait my tests were scheduled and I, in my mind, was on my way back to the flight line, slowly but surely.

Soon after setting up my test gear the flight crew returned to the bird. They had been out earlier doing preflight checks with the pilots. They jokingly told me that the problem was way too much for me to handle and that the C.O. was going to have swabbing every head in the squadron the next day. I laughed and shot right back at them. This lighthearted cross fire lasted until the pilots came out the hanger. We had two fairly new pilots that day. Both of them had less time in the squadron then any of us out there. Boot Pilots are a strange bunch. They are as professional as a Wall Street Lawyers because of the mission at hand but they are as mischievous as frat boys since most of them are pretty recent college graduates. Needless to say my self and the two Aircrew Marines weren't exactly sure how to handle them, but within minutes we all were on the same page and ready to fly.
