The United States is growing frustrated with Russia and other members of the United Nations Security Council due to their reluctance to go along with plans to modify sanctions on Iraq. As a result the Bush administration has decided to go along with the UN’s plan to delay action for another month. The real problem with Iraq consists right here in the United States. There appears to be no way to really win the conflict and as a result the United States appears divided on the issue. The reason for the divide is the fact that the American public will not be satisfied with anything short of severely weakening or removing Saddam Hussein. Another key factor to the dividedness that surrounds the issue is the fact that few Americans are willing to pay the price of a ground war that would be required to accomplish the removal of Saddam.
