Book Review-The Two Towers

In The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolken, the fellowship, which now consists of Aragon, Gimli, Legolas, and Gandalf, travel to Oronac, the evil Saruman's lair. On the way there they stop at Helm's Deep, a fortress that is under attack by Saruman's forces. After successfully defending it against the Orcs, they continue their journey to Oronac. There they find Merry and Pippin, the two hobbits that were captured in the first book, who traveled to Oronac with the Ents, tree-like creatures, and have already destroyed all the town except Saruman's tower, which is defended by magic. They try to talk Saruman into surrendering, but he refuses and seals himself inside the tower. Leaving the defense of Oronac to the Ents, the fellowship leaves for Sauron's stronghold, Mordor. Here, the story shifts to Frodo and Samwise, the two hobbits that left the fellowship to travel to destroy the mystical ring alone. Gollum, a creature that has been warped by the ring's power, leads them. The spider paralyzed Frodo, but not before he and Samwise critically injure it. Samwise, thinking Frodo is dead, leaves him, and leaves with

Personally I thought this was a boring story because it took forever for the fellowship to make decisions and actually DO anything, but I am the kind of person who needs excitement and action in his life constantly to keep interest in anything. Although, I do feel this story is good literature, because, aside from the fact that it is a best seller and a classic, it is a good (but long) story about an epic adventure that would, in someway, change the life of everyone who read it. One of the techniques of writing, and probably the most important one, that makes this story good is description. This book has so mush imagery that no one should have trouble picturing the settings, characters, and even the battle scenes.

the ring on his finger, becoming invisible. But, as he is leaving, he sees Orcs, who know of the spiders venom, take him and carry him away, towards a hidden door in the passage way. Samwise pursues, but the Orcs seal the door right before he gets there, leaving him outside alone, to wallow in his misfortune. Every aspect of this book is well explained, in detail, lengthily, which really leaves no room for misunderstandings. Some questions I have involve the other characters in the book, whatever happens to them. The Ents, the Elves, and the Riders. They all help the fellowship because they want to defeat the enemy, but then what? Do they continue to help or just fade into the background? Also, the
