In 1519 a Spanish expedition was sent on a mission to conquer Mexico. The Spanish expedition consisting of eleven ships was lead by a conquistador named Hernan Cortes. Hernan Cortes is known throughout the world as the man who defeated the Aztec Empire. By taking over the Aztec Empire and their emperor, a man named Moctezuma, Hernan Cortes conquered Mexico.
