Everybody has a different way to learn about their sexuality. Some learned it from the media, some learned it through their peers, and some learned it through their parents. As for me, I learned it from reading books and experiencing it. Not like most kids in the United States, I grew up in a very conservative Asian family. Sex is something that we never discuss or even talk about in our family.
When I reached puberty, I had to go to the library to find book about sexuality and read. Not like other parents, my parents never sit down and discuss with me about it. When I went to high school, I was very curious about sex. But because sex is something very shameful and secret in my culture, I was punished and ban by my parents from reading books
In contrast to the male, a lot of people in the United States disapprove female circumcision. They feel that female circumcision is something that very evil and violate human right. It does not go with the norm of the society. They look at female circumcision as something that very sick and immoral. Also, they also feel that female circumcision is forced not a matter of choice. Therefore, it is violated the human right issues. Another thing is the mentality of the western people. We think we are so civilized, in our medical people, but we did not look at female circumcision in a culture perspective. Maybe if we look in a different perspective we will have a different opinion on female circumcision but most people never do that.
