A detailed Summary of Discuss Victor and his creature in Frankenstein as a symbol

In remit to Colonization, a Colonizer uses both good and bad methods to achieve his mission; on the other hand, to seek independence of the Colonizer, the Colonized has to accept some form of compromise for his or her freedom. In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the Colonizer - Victor Frankenstein and the monster - the Colonized, are obvious representations of God and Adam in the creation story Genesis. Offering an explanation of what I mean by the above, God breathed life into Adam and created him in his own image and likeness making God the Colonizer and Adam the Colonized, and, Victor assembled body parts from different corpses and made a hideous monster. Thus, Frankenstein somewhat is a story about Colonization, however, it is a story parallel to Mary Shelly's life as is Genesis. Shelly's creator had been her mom in much the same manner that the creator of the monster is Victor Frankenstein. Also, a reader may derive from Frankenstein that unlike Genesis, where God is unsubstantially good and man is bad, Victor Frankenstein the colonizer is not always good and the monster is not always bad. I will further explain what I mean by this.

To begin, Victor Frankenstein departed Geneva, his childhood home to study abroad and within

the few months after he had left home and was residing overseas, his mind rested an interest in science. He succeeded in discovering the cause of generation and life, hence, set forth to create a human. He reported, "Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through and pour a torrent of light into our dark world. A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many excellent natures would owe their being to me" (933). As we can see, Victor is the Colonizer and his new creation is the Colonized. Besides creating species, his purpose of all this is to be bestowed with gratitude by his colonized. Also, he regards to produce more and defy God when he says, "I might in process of time (although I now found it possible) renew life where death had apparently devoted the body to corruption" (933). Therefore, in regard to his ideology of Colonization, Victor sets out to assemble body parts from corpses and creates a monster in the heat of his madness. His ignorance and irresponsibility as a colonizer comes into view when he disowns his creation and abandons it because the creature is hideous and wretched. "How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavored to form . . . I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! . . . I had desired it with an ardor that far exceeded moderation: but now I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart" (935). Victor is startled at the sight of his creation -the monster is not beautiful, Victor leaves the creature to live for himself in a world full of ugliness, violence and hate. There is no mutual feeling of love between Victor and his monster, only that of hate and fear. Victor the colonizer abandoning his son (monster) is similar to a parent failing to accept a new born child

After being abandoned by his father Victor, the colonizer and his creator, the monster sets his voyage in search of love and embrace that he has been deprived of. He sets foot into a world which is ugly, violent, and hateful to a human of dissimilar kind. The monster had just ventured into town, "I had hardly placed my foot within the door, before the children shrieked, and one of the women fainted" (964) he concedes. Till this moment he had not r
