Could you imagine yourself today as a slave? The horrid conditions that you would have to work in, repeatedly being whipped for not working hard enough, or even getting punished for no reason at all. Barely surviving off of the spoonfuls of grain that your master would give you to eat. Just thinking of these conditions that blacks once had to work in brings a sickening feeling to my stomach. But luckily, over a hundred years ago, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation abolishing slavery. Or did it? Surprisingly, slavery still exists in some countries today such as: Africa, Asia and Latin America. It is an astonishing figure, but there are still 200 million slaves in the world. I am here to tell you the facts on slavery still existing in today’s society. Have you ever heard of chattel slavery?
