Living in the new millennium with advanced technology creates stress and frustration in everyday lifestyle. This frustration and stress is a race between human and technology, if we fail to keep up to date with the computer age we will be called "out of date human". According to Ray Bradbury technology has turned human beings into objects of slavery. In The Veldt technology plays a key component in Peter and Wendy's lives. Technology is considered to be one of the best things have happened to the human race, but if you examine closer it can be destructive. Demonstrates in his short story The Veldt, how technology destroys the Hadley's family. The Parent's want the "Happy Home life", but the children would rather have their own family values and shape the family how they want it. This short illustrates how sad the human condition has become in some peoples opinion. Technology removes the love between parents and children's relationship. The nursery became a central part of Peter and Wendy's life. Lydia, the children's mother says to George her husband that the children will be devastated if he locks the nursery. "They live for the nursery". The children do not know what is right and wrong, who ever spends more time with them has
a stronger influence. David McClean the psychologist says "This room is their mother and father, far more important in their lives than their real parents". The children lie and rebel against their parents to protect their artificial substitute parents (nursery). When George and Lydia decide to shut the nursery down due to it's violent nature, but it was already too late. "We've given the children everything they ever wanted. Is this our reward -secrecy, disobedience?" . Their realization came too late and they lost their children to the artificial parents. Although the story was not written on today's modern technology but the Bradbury's ideas still apply. He tries to warn us that as technology progresses family relationship should remain constant and not let technology be the key factory of destroying the family's relationship The experience of having something great and losing it, is worst than not having it at all. The Hadley's family experiences this hardship is due to their large substantial dependence on technology. The children are mentally attached to their nursery and becomes the slavery of the nursery, thus they cannot live without it. Choosing the nursery over their real parent's life. "Oh, I hate you...
