United Under One
Aldous Huxley once said, "...every cause is also an effect, and every effect is at the same time a cause." The Federalists wanted us all to be united; many different states that make up one great country with a central government to watch over them. They wanted organization for our nation and they had the government set up with representatives to would give each state a voice that could be heard. In the Federalist paper # 31, Alexander Hamilton addressed that the idea of a federation to give the states some power with a central government controlling the amount of state power. The idea was not to restrict and give the states no voice or power and it was not to tax everything in sight. Brutus implied that that was, what the Federalists were trying to do. The real fact of the matter is that states do need their own power and laws because they are separate and independent from other states, but their laws should keep in context with the nation's laws and that there are certain issues states have where the nation needs to step in because of the state's decision has an effect on the whole nation. The Federalists tried to control these effects by regarding the public good, considering all voices and holding everyone to the same s
Alexander Hamilton said in 1781 "if the government is in the hands of a few, they will tyrannize the many; if the government is in the hands of the many, they will tyrannize over the few." Too many adjustments can be made for people if each separate state held their own standards, or made their own laws. A central government controls the effects of each decision by basing it in the general welfare of Americans. Legalization of narcotics, supplies of water, and food standards are just a few of the many issues that need to be regulated by the national government to help sustain what our country was built on, equality. Every decision this government makes affects someone else and that is why the central government should be in charge of those issues and not let the states make their own laws. We are one nation, united and should make our decisions based on the country, as a country. Besides water and narcotic issues, another issue that we have currently had to deal with is the standards of food such as hot dogs. All states should have the same standards for food, such as hot dogs. We're fifty states under one government, not fifty states connected by land/water passages. We're one nation and need to have the same standards for everyone. When there are different standards for every state there's too many possible rules that could be bent for how you see them fit. Every state needs to be equal, including our standards of food. If one state decides to sell a higher standard of hot dugs such as Michigan did and every other state sells ones where the production cost, as well as the standards, are low that affects everyone in this nation. Of course everyone will want to buy the Michigan brand hot dogs because the ingredients involved are appetizing while the other brand may be cheaper for the consumer and the company, they contained parts that are non edibles and such.
