Aristotle
Aristotle was a famous ancient philosopher and scientist that lived from 384 to 322 B.C. He was born in Macedonia to a physician of the royal court. He moved to Athens when he was 17, to study with Plato, another famous philosopher of his time. Aristotle is said to have loved his teacher a great deal, but he loved the truth more. When Plato died, Aristotle moved to Assos to counsel his friend and ruler, Hermias. He married Hermias' niece and they adopted a daughter. When Hermias was killed by the Persians, Aristotle moved to the Macedonian capital, Pella where he tutored the prince, Alexander. Upon Alexander's becoming king, Aristotle moved back to Athens and opened his own school in Athens called Lyceum. Aristotle died a few years later at a family estate in Euboea. While alive, Aristotle kept records of his thoughts on many issues including: the nature of the world, and human knowledge, thought, and belief. His lecture notes have been found with mentions of his teachings on almost every branch of knowledge and art. From these notes, we get our knowledge and respect for Aristotle. These notes also include his thoughts on logic and science(Physics and astronomy). His main focus was on Biology, p

Aristotle also wrote about the soul in one of his books, On the soul. He argued that the soul was a part of the body, emotionally and physically. Aristotle believed that each human had habits based on their character and culture. He also felt strongly that women and barbarians should not be allowed voting rights. Which brings to his other belief that: "Full excellence can be realized only by the mature male adult of the upper class." Many of Aristotle's writings can be found in the Lyceum library along with the Constitution of Athens, which was lost and then recovered again in a papyrus copy in 1890. Many studies of today are based on the teachings of Aristotle. Up until a few years, mostly all of his teachings were for the most part, believed to be true. There are few philosophers, scholars, and/or scientists that have proven to be of Aristotle's caliber. He was a very intelligent and deep-thinker. I find it very amazing as to where he obtained all that knowledge. He new so much and was always striving to learn more, and for the most part, prove more. Aristotle i
