Saving Private Ryan

A detailed Summary of Saving Private Ryan

This movie Saving Private Ryan is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is the story of Captain John Miller's (Tom Hanks) journey to find Private James Francis Ryan (Matt Damon). It starts off with an older man neeling down at a grave of someone and thinking about something. Then it went to a boat of soldiers waiting to make a surprise attack (D-Day). These soldiers get off the boat most of them are shot. This was so sad for me to think of all the men and boys who were killed in this attack. They eventually get to a sea wall where more soldiers are killed. The shooting stops with a view of all the tragic happenings, the water on sea is red and there are people yelling out in agony some for medics and some for mothers. This is a tear jerking scene because it is so real, this is really what happened. Capt. Miller orders soldiers to go over the wall and attack German gun implacements, this is mostly successful because a sniper Private Jackson (Barry Pepper) shoots the German that is shooting at the allieds. When shooting he recites verses from the bible. After this the remaining troops go up the hill and finish off the German resistance.

This scene is said by D-Day survivors t

The remaining six men decided to stay and help to defend the bridge with Private Ryan's Unit. They started getting ready for a German attack making bombs scooping out shooting points and making a defense plan. When hearing German tanks the take their positions it is all out battle bullets fly every where Corporal Upham's duty is carry bullets to 30 cal. Machine guns. This is his first account of the real time war he is terrified he is spared by the German he let go, but the others weren't so lucky. Private Ryan is with Capt. Miller the whole time. Most every one was killed by the Germans. The last part of the plan was if the Germans were winning to go on the other side of the bridge. That is what they did Seargeant Horvath while going across the bridge was killed. Private Ryan, Capt. Miller, and Private Reiben made it across safely. As for Coporal Upham he was terrified lying on a slope crying. Germans kept going by him he was very terrified. At this point I was very sad that only a few survived and I felt sick to think that that really happened during WWII. Over near the bridge The Capt. Was trying to blow it up before an approaching Tank could cross it.

o be the most accurate account of this attack. After the D-Day invasion Capt. Miller is told that of four Brothers by the last name Ryan three of them were killed only one is left. That is the new mission for Capt. Miller and seven other men. The Captain's Translator was killed in the Invasion so he got a new one for this mission. Coporal Tim Upham (Jeremy Davies) is a fluent speaker of French and German, but he doesn't have any combat expierence. Corpral Upham is my favorite character in this movie because both he and I were first exposed
