Thou Shall Not Kill
A detailed Summary of Thou Shall Not Kill
Thou shall not kill. To the normal person this might just sound like another quote your grandfather would say but to the more enlightened they will notice this to be out from the bible. It is one of the 10 commandments. Although you might ask in a society that no longer bases its rules and regulations on the bible, why does a simple quote like this bear any significance. Well I believe that as a country under God it would be our rightful obligation to take a few ideas to heart so that we may truly show the world how a real country under God presents itself, and how it comes about its daily problems such as homicide, and the death penalty.
In history of the United States an innumerable amount of people have lost their lives to the death penalty. Upon this their have also been many to lose their lives for no reason. Many who were clearly by all means, hands down not guilty, however thanks to this wonderful system which we have they were still put to death. In the past century their have been 23 people who were found to be mistakenly executed. There are even more however we just haven't taken the time to look into this matter so if there was a mistake we could simply hide it. This is by no means a light matter. A human life is s

Many people will say it is obviously cheaper to kill someone rather than to keep them alive in prison. There is no need to waste money on such people. All I can do is look upon condescendingly at how naive some people can be. Statistical analysis shows that from the time a person is placed under arrest to the time they are executed under the death penalty it takes about 1.5 to 3 million dollars. But life imprisonment on the other hand costs a menial 500 to 600 thousand dollars. For all those pro-education people wouldn't spending this extra 1-2 million dollars per person be better spent on schools and working to educate our youth? Others might say an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. This was a saying that dated back to the early A.D. years. Usually it is the norm of the society to phase many things out as they get outdated and this is a saying that has been outdated for more than 1000 years. The last excuse to support the death penalty is that people say: "because we can." Because we can kill people we should kill them? We can destroy this entire earth if we wanted but we don't because the ends do not justify the means. And by no means does anything justify the killing of another man.
Mahatma Ghandi once brilliantly stated that: "an eye for an eye and the whole world would be blind." I could not agree more. As a civilized nation it is ou
