Abortion
ABORTION! The most controversial and talked about topic in the United States today is once again stirring up a heated debate not only on the national level, but also in our classroom. The purpose of this paper was by my understanding to portray both the pro-choice and pro-life views in an unbiased manner. For me, that seems like an almost impossible task because it seems so crystal clear that there are too many fallacies with the pro-choice cause. Nonetheless, a few seemingly legitimate arguments will be portrayed, but even those will soon be countered.Do you consider something with a beating heart a living creature? A baby's heart forms and starts beating in the fifth week of pregnancy, therefore, that aspect alone would make abortion murder correct? The baby within the womb of the mother depends on her much like it does from the moment it physically enters the outside world. With that in mind, to end such life and to destroy such a dependent bond between mother and child means doing nothing more than murdering an innocent victim. A pro-choice supporter would say that the decision is up to the woman, but the person with the pro-life theory would say that it is murder no matter what the situation. Would you consider it murder to
There are thousands of women out there who would give anything for the opportunity to bring life into this world, and there are just as many men as well who wish they were capable of fathering a child. One must wonder if those going for abortions consider the aforementioned unlucky people when they go for their procedure. Maybe those pregnant mothers and supporting fathers should imagine the feelings of those physically challenged and picture their faces when they found out they were incapable of bringing life into this world. Then maybe they will come to the harsh reality that they are truly being selfish fools. Pro-choice people want us to respect the "right to choose"? They are asking those struggling to be moral citizens to support those women who sleep around, get pregnant, and do not care about anything but themselves. Pro-choice activists have the audacity to step onto a platform and tell the morally equitable part of American society that it needs to be a little more compassionate towards women and a woman's "right to choose". Again, how about those women who break down in tears because they cannot bring life into this world. One must wonder how sensitive they are to the women who can do and discard what they only dream of doing. In cases regarding the murder of pregnant women, almost all result in guilty verdicts on the charge of double murder. The charge is double murder, and they go on record as being double homicides. I ask, if the fetus is not a child until birth, where is the second murder in the case? Granted pregnant women gain substantial weight during pregnancy, but surely the fact that they are a little "husky" during such time does not mean the courts count them as two people does it? Naturally, it does not; the judicial system in the nation considers that living being within the mother's womb to be human life and therefore its destruction is murder! Yet, those same judicial leaders claim that it is legitimate to medically destroy that life on a surgical table. Where is the consistency in that? That is correct, there is none. Does that mean that the murderer is guilty of only one murder, or does that mean that the innocent child within the mother is a living human being? For the pro-life cause, the answer is obviously the latter option. The child is a living, human being. There are so many options for pregnant women today. All of the sob stories told by some of the pro-choice leaders are sad yes, but most of them certainly could have been avoided. Some of the stories we hear may have been blown out of proportion, and a little exaggeration was most likely present, but nonetheless, two of them read in class talked about husbands leaving them, or a lack of financial capabilities. Naturally, that is perfectly understandable. There are most likely many cases where families cannot afford a child. The best thing to do would be to struggle to give that child the home it deserves, but no one would think any less of a pregnant mother if she gave her child up for adoption. At least then the young boy or girl can make something of him/herself. For teenage girls, asking the infant's grandparents for help is more than sensible. If the junior in high school wants to finish school, and graduate, his or her parents will most likely help. There are housing opportunities for pregnant mothers, and are hundreds of other opportunities out there aside from killing the innocent child. As a nation we need to get out of the mindset that life is a waste. It simply is not right. If you are not ready to be a parent, at least give the baby up for adoption, and make your life, that bab
