Are you a member of the mass who asks, “How can modern music these days be so upsetting and disturbing? The answer is simple—the artists that “sing” these disgusting lyrics are completely rude and obnoxious. There are so many varieties of music that make us feel good and encourage us to do the right things, but there is a darker side of music that brings out the malicious side of listeners, listeners to the music that is being blasted into our children’s ears. The children of America’s role models are “singing” and rapping about drugs, prostitutes, and violence that would blow most of us non-listeners away. From the screaming men yelling obscenities to the rappers rapping about gangs and drugs, our children are listening and learning that the actions that these demeaning lyrics express are acceptable behaviors. The music of today has changed for the worse and is suggesting to America’s youth that they commit acts of violence, speak obscenities, and use drugs, and reinforcing these behaviors through continued listening, platinum record after platinum record.
