War Against Iraq
War Against Iraq: Is Their A Legitimate Purpose? Recently, if one was to read a newspaper, or pay attention to the news, it appears that the United States is once again preparing to go to war with Iraq. However, this time things are a little different. The first time the United States went to war against Iraq they had the support from its' allies. This time, however, a good percentage of the United States did not support Bush's administration effort to launch a preemptive attack on Iraq. So what is the difference this time? Iraq is still under the leadership of Saddam Hussein. Twelve years ago , Iraq invaded its' neighboring country Kuwait. Iraq used chemical weapons fifteen years ago against Kurdish rebels. Along these facts, it might be true that Iraq is developing, and still may have weapons of biological and chemical agents. Taking these facts into consideration, let us consider why the United States should not launch a preemptive attack against Iraq by examining if the United States economy can afford such a war; whether or not Saddam Hussein is a real threat to the United States and its interests; and how the United States would be just morally wrong. Some Americans may not be aware of how much it will cost t
In conclusion, the United Sates should reconsider launching a preemptive attack against Iraq. We do not have the support from our allies as we did the first time we launched an attack against Iraq. Our economy is in critical condition. The first time we went to Iraq, our allies paid two-thirds of that war. This time it looks as though we will be on our own. The thought about us going to war with Iraq is just morally wrong. It is time for the government of the United States to use its resources to spread peace and not war. We need to be peacemakers and not home breakers.
