A detailed Summary of The Palestinians Should Have Thier Own State

Imagine walking to a bus stop with some friends to go shopping. On a bench sits a bag of candy. You reach for it, to take it or possibly just to move it, and the next thing you know you're surrounded by white coats and blurry faces. You find out your two best friends and dead and you're missing both of your arms. Now imagine living in a "house," no bigger than six hundred square feet, with your parents, two sisters, two brothers, and your mom's parents. You can't leave you hose, in fact no one in your village can. All because some Israeli kids got hurt in a terrorist act nearby and someone said your little brother did it. This is just one set of instances that can happen to anyone in Israel. These kinds of occurrences lead to many ways to solve the growing problem. One is the suggestion of an independent Palestinian state. The Palestinians should have their own state because it can lessen the conflict between the Palestinians and Israel and it will give Palestinians, especially the refugees, a chance to start over.

One reason there should be an independent Palestinian state is that it will create the possibility for lessening the conflict between the Palestinians and the Israel, giving hope for peace. The Palestinians are willi

Some people believe that there should not be a Palestinian state because it would threaten Israel's security. Israel needs its currant borders to continue the border control and for preserving the people and land. According to Yohanan Ramati and Shlomo Baum, both member of the Jerusalem Institute for Western Defense, "For Israel, these military truths are especially meaningful because the asymmetry between the warring parties is the Arab-Israeli conflict is unprecedented in military history. The 20 Arab states that surround Israel cover an area exceeding 5.1 million square miles. The size of 'Greater Israel' is less than 11,000 square miles" (155-156). This shows that no one can predict the outcome of this discrepancy because nothing in history tells us of one on this scale. This also shows the great difference in size in the land that is being discussed. Though this is true, the Palestinians deserve the right to their own nation. No one country has the right to tell its neighbors that it should have the borders it wants to secure their land. Also if a Palestinian state was created, Israel wouldn't have the problem with the surrounding countries, therefore its borders would not be threatened, and the final shape of Israel would not cause security issues. As Walid Khalidi, a Palestinian scholar from Harvard states "A Palestinian state can be devised which is totally compatible with Israel's security" (162). Even though opposers say that a Palestinian state would threaten Israel, the borders would be an unnecessary worry.

Another reason the Palestinians should have their own nation is that it will give Palestinians, especially the re
