Art History

Art in Thailand is mainly found in Bangkok, where it is still very wide spread across the world. Bangkok has been the capitol of Thailand since 1782. It has many elegant and beautiful ancient buildings, the oldest originating around 5,000 years ago. Since this time, the style and color of the architecture and art has changed drastically over the years. This paper will discuss many different styles, cultures, religions, and color.

Archeologists have found tools and decorative pieces around northern Thailand, dating back to Paleolithic times. This shows how old the original man was when they first made settlements near Thailand. As style has evolved, they began making glass and weaving cloth. The true Thai architecture didn't come until later.

The ruins of Thailand, which are where the elegant style came from date back to the first capitol in 1238. Sukhothai was the first capitol of Thailand. The style of these ruins is still very similar to the present day buildings. The buildings themselves were very large, and the tall peak like tops was very distinct themselves. They were like no other architecture to be found. On these ruins were religion icons

Since this time of new painters the buildings have reached new color. Everything is now bright an vibrant. As an artist, going to Thailand is highly recommended, even though I have not been there myself the art and architecture look truly amazing.

One of the most amazing gold statues in Thailand is the Reclining Buddha of Wat Po, it is completely gold plated and has and amazing set of detailed features. The Buddhist temples in Thailand are the most elegant of all. The have tall recessing roofs and are mostly plated in gold. The Buddhists statues located all over are also made almost entirely of gold.

The modern art of Thailand that we see today, began to take place when the art of bronze came in. This opened up a new door to style and design for the Thai artists. They began designing buildings, which showed more color and gracefulness in their smooth climb towards the sky. It is a marvel to see how these buildings climb to story on top of story and not topple over. These buildings would have magnificent color and great detail from the outline all the way to the shingles in the roof. The statues on the buildings would represent other gods or war he
