There are some people that don't think of food as anything more than something that keeps them going, a source of energy. These people are usually skinny and eat pretty healthy as a matter of habit. Their bodies tell them what they need and they listen and follow through accordingly. These people are also usually pretty active people, they lead very active lives, and they are always running around doing stuff. This is not to say that all skinny active people are healthy and eat right, that is definitely not what I am saying. There can be no generalizations when it comes to weight, there are always many variables. DNA being a big one. There are other people that think of food as something quite different. There are other people that use food quite differently. These other people get depressed about something and to cheer themselves up they eat. These other people feel when they have eaten what they were supposed to or have done what they were supposed to, they deserve a reward, which is usually food. Only they don't just treat or reward themselves with a small token or small portion like a cookie or a piece of cake or a scoop of ice cream. These "Others" have a bag of cookies, a whole cake, a carton of ice cream
, or even a 7-course meal. Then they feel guilty about what they ate, because they look in the mirror and see what they have become and they either go eat some more, throw up or starve themselves. To these "Others" food is truly a drug.We "Others", yes I am among the ranks though there are some who would not agree, but they did not know me when I weighed over 200 lbs and wouldn't leave my apartment. They never knew I cried every time I got on the scale. They were not there when not one article of clothing fit and I contemplated suicide as a viable alternative to living life in body that I created. We "Others" have to learn that food is not the answer to any of our problems and the way to do that is to realize that food, is just food, it cant change anything but our body size. When is a diet not a diet? When it becomes your normal way of life, a habit. You don't just do it for a while, loose weight and then go back to the way you used to eat and expect to keep the weight off. That is the reason you went on the diet. It was the way you used to eat that got you fat in the first place right? Weather you try this, that or the other "diet" once you go back so does all the weight. Just saying the word "diet" predestines you to failure, SO never say diet again. Instead say, "I am changing the way I live my life". I am not a doctor so don't take this as medical advise, not that I trust everything doctors have to say, I mean they are just "practicing" medicine aren't they? I am just a person who knows how harsh life and people can be.There have been many books written on this subject more than I could possibly list or read for that matter. Some good some not so good. I have read and own many. There is a whole industry out there
