Steven Vincent Benet, shows all of the different concepts and literary terms in this story. Some of the concepts and terms he uses are: Sequence, the order events happened in the story to make the ending good; Conflict, amongst John with outside forces; Rites of Passage, John has to be a man and leave fast. Theme, the changes and ways characters look at thing, which John and his father thought gods were east but they were really people and they were all dead.
