Human Resource Management

The one constant in today's challenging business landscape is people. To build a great company you need great people. To get and keep great people you need to build the infrastructure that supports a great company. That's where Human Resource Management comes in.# Human resource management is a very important aspect of business some would argue that it is the most important. Now think of the problems that might arise with people after the World Trade Center towers fell. How should human resource managers and other executives react in the aftermath of terrorism, such as the events of September 11?#

The best-prepared human resource managers will anticipate for such a problem, but professionals and other managers can't anticipate all problems and traumatic events. Preparing forecasts of future human resource needs, as discussed in chapter 11 of Understanding Business, clearly states its importance.# We can assume that unpreventable events like those, which took place on September 11, might cause uncertainty and increase anxiety in workers and professionals alike.

Now let's stop and think for a second about some issues that might arise as a result of events like these.


A good idea would be to assign a specific officer or human resource point of contact in the workplace that deals exclusively with this problem. Some employees might feel safe if they knew that there was someone to talk to about their problems that were in the workplace. For some people it is kind of awkward to go to a therapist or psychologists, or they just might not feel comfortable, or maybe they can't afford it. In any case a human resource point of contact in the workplace might be very helpful.

Well, a good way to start is to keep people busy, which will increase their productivity, keep them engaged in their work, and keep their minds off the current events. This only slows down the production of the worker and the company. Instead urge employees to get back into their regular routine to get their minds off the events. #

Human resource management is a vital aspect in any business. Whether you are running a hot dog stand on a street corner or heading a Fortune 500 company, you still must have great human resource management if you would like to succeed it today's very competitive world of business.
