Maggie a Girl of the Streets

Maggie a Girl of the Streets A summary of what the book had skipped in maggies life.

"They crouched until the ghost mist of dawn appeared at the window, drawing close to the panes, and looking in at the prostate, heaving body of the mother."

After that last sentence in that chapter the story jumps straight to Maggie's adulthood. Have you ever wondered what happened to Maggie's teen years or the rest of her childhood? like what her childhood was like? or if she went to school? if she had any boyfriends? Well thats what I am going to attempt to do by trying to piece the missing pieces of Maggie's life together.

maggie continued to remain as distant as possible from her mother after the death of her father and infant brother tommie. it seemed to be the hardest time of her life at that point for her. Her mother wasdrinking more than

usuall during her mourning period. Mary would claim the drinking eased her pain. Though Maggie and Jimmie both new that their mother didnt really miss the father as much as she claimed. Maggie was never sure if the heavy drinking was because her mother was mourning for Tommie and the Father or if it was just an excuse for her behavior.

That is what I believe Maggies childhood and teen years were like. Maggie's life was a bunch of pieces from a shattered mirror and throught her life she tried to piece them back together.

as for friends Maggie had none only aquaintences. Most of the girls her age would taunt her as hse walked down the street. Maggie would pay no attention to them she would mind her own buisness as they kept saying hurtful things. They made fun of her clothes but she knew she couldnt help it her family couldnt afford
